Nice atmosphere. Very friendly wait staff. Best hamburgers in town. Take from Bozeman native. Will return often. Also, they are open the winter with shortened hours.

Nothing to write home about. Disappointing delux burger. Thought it would be yummy but it was a thin patty on a plain bun.

Best food we had in Yellowstone!! We stumbled across this gem on our last day in the park, we had breakfast. It was just what we needed. Very friendly staff. It's inside a store/gift shop. BTW... the gift shop there has an awesome clearance section (the best in the park)! What a great way to buy friends and family souvenirs!! Yummy food!!

Dinner that serves old fashioned quality food. Awesome milkshakes and burgers. Fries not so good, otherwise they would have had 6 stars!

  • Toni A.

Food was excellent, service was fast and efficient! Was seated and our drink order was place within the first 5 minutes after sitting down! I got the ultimate grill cheese and a small side of Route 66 tater tots! Loved it!!

Nice servers, cute and clean interior. Was surprised they didn't have 50's music playing. Bean soup was good. Chicken sandwich was average despite the menu claim that it would be the best I ever had. The bun was delicious but the neat was flavorless and cut in stops making it hard to eat. Burgers and fries were good.

Wife claims it's the best burger sandwich she ever had - 1/2 Wolfman. Friendly waitress even with her two youngsters helping.

Love Canyon Street Grill. I enjoy the angel baby and wedges. Fun 50's decor inside. Recommend anybody to give it a try. Don't expect to be blown away, go there to enjoy the atmosphere and classic American food. It's in a tourist town so you'll pay a bit more than usual, but you're not spending too much more than the McDonald's there, so just go.

This is a wonderful restaurant with a throwback 50s diner. We tried several dishes and all were tasty. Our server was especially nice and helpful. We would definitely go back again. Try the potato wedges, worth the upgrade!!

This place stands out in what has otherwise been a lackluster dining experience at West Yellowstone. The place is a classic 50's diner with vintage decor, but without the grease. In fact, for the healthy diners, there are several salad and garden burger options. The chicken salad I ordered was quite tasty, and it paired well with the huckleberry salad dressing. And for those not on a caloric count, there is a wide array of burger options. I didn't try but my kids loved their burgers. Kids' meal also available.

Our last vacation dinner. With limited options in West Yellowstone we sort of stumbled in to Canyon Street. Excellent! Our very friendly waiter Josh, nephew of the owners, offered suggestions that were spot on (the homemade chili is amazing!) Gus's grilled cheese on marble bread was perfect and delicious. Cheeseburger cooked med rare as ordered. Route 66 tots were a hit with all of us. 50s theme diner looks charming and clean. And prices very resonable (especially compared to the neighboring establishments in town)

The food is decent but the service was SLOW. It was an hour to receive our food and it wasn't that crowded.

Wow! What a great little place. We're on an RV trip across the USA and we've tried a lot of places. Family owned and the pride shows in this little place with excellent food. Restaurant was spotless and the young guy waiting on us gave great suggestions. My son loved his milkshake. The decor was fabulous. Loved eating here. Sorry we discovered it on the last night of our stay, otherwise we would have been there every night!

We stopped here for the dinner of my birthday girl. The kids loved all the stuff on the walls and things hanging from the ceiling. Our server was quite friendly, but a little slow. I tried a soda that had 'port' in it, and it was pretty good. I think it was like a cream soda. It was different than what I'm used to, that's for sure! The food was actually pretty good, and not too expensive overall. This place can be easy to miss while driving, and even walking on the street you can miss it if you're not paying attention. This will be on the list of places we will come back to when visiting Yellowstone.

If you only eat fried foods and hamburgers this is where you should eat. We ordered the chicken basket and the chicken tenders were over cooked. When I told the waitress, she did not offer me anything. I would never come back to this place because they can't even fry chicken tenders. Also the menu said the tenders had a flour, salt and pepper breading--that was not the case. The chicken had more breading than chicken. It didn't help that they were over cooked. McDonalds would have been better and a lot cheaper. My husband did order a chocolate malt which he said was good, so I gave the place 2 stars because of the decor and the malt.

Ate here twice on our trip to West Yellowstone. Extremely friendly service. Food is quite decent quality, but is a little lacking in prep sophistication, even for a diner type place. The Dew Dew is float type drink with Mountain Dew, a little heavy on the lime sherbert but tasty.

  • Dan H.

Me an my family ate here twice in 3 days during our stay. The food is very good and the prices are probably the best you will get in this area. It is clean and the A/C works very well! The servers were mostly teens who were all very friendly. This place gets very busy so plan on it taking longer than a typical restaurant. If you are ok with the wait, then I highly recommend this place. The decor is a 50's style diner. The shakes are great and our favorite was Huckleberry. The Dew Dew is also a good one (Mtn. Dew and lime ice cream). Root Beer is Henry Weinhard's, which is hard to beat.

American diner fare. Onion rings are an up charge & you get about 6. Burgers were under cooked, beware. Clean & decent service though.

Authentic 50's diner with excellent, quick service. Their chicken sandwiches are phenomenal. They also happen to serve the best strawberry milk shake I've ever had. Hands down the best meal I've had in the entire yellow stone area. This is a definite must go if you're ever in West Yellowstone.

We found this place after browsing the overpriced restaurants in town. It was an easy decision for fresh made burgers as oposed to the pricey DQ down the block. Food was good and the thin fries were good too. I got the bacon burger on pumpernickel. You get bacon bits instead of slices. My wife got the deluxe burger and liked it. Our server seemed kind of new at it but was friendly.

This place is darling! The prices are great and the food is fabulous! Been there twice already! In small tourist towns it is hard to find such a great place with REAL food!

Cute little 50's style restaurant. We ordered the Travelin' man ~ garden burger, Basic Cheese burger and Fish and Chips which were all really decent. My only "complaint" would be the service. Originally we were one of three families in the restaurant. Once the place started getting busy we were forgotten and it took quite a while to get our check and then to pay of it. I had to track down our server. But all in all good experience!

Came here based on other yelp reviews. Server was friendly, but slow to get to our table initially. Food did come out fast, and was tasty, but a bit expensive for what it was. Each entree was about $11. My husband and son both ordered burgers, and both said that they were good. I had a chicken sandwich - the Smokey Joe - described on the menu as a "boneless chicken breast with crisp bacon, cheddar cheese, grilled onions, and honey mustard barbecue sauce". I would have expected for the chicken breast to be whole, but it was sliced and piled on the bread. Also would have expected bacon strips, but they were crumbles, and although the onions were grilled, it was not enough for my taste. Also, sandwiches come with fries or sliced apples. $1.50 up charge for potato wedges, onion rings, tater tots, cottage cheese, soup or salad. I get it for most (not unusual to see that for soup or salad) but a bit surprising for tots. My husband ordered those and it was an ample portion, and he said that they were both hot and crispy. I got rings, and with the charge would have expected more than six. Also got charged $.75 for a side of honey mustard. Wanted to try a shake, but at $6 +, decided against it. All in all, not bad, but not worth the expense.

A neat little place BUT not worth the money you are going to pay. $54 (before tip) for a burger, sandwich & 2 kids meals. Ouch! I ordered a House Club sandwich & was less than impressed to find it had COLD chopped up chicken pieces with burnt toast & bacon. You are going to wait a bit for food, if you are stopping in for a quick bite....go someplace else! There were 2 young men waiting on tables. They were both very nice & pleasant but they needed more hands for sure. I would pass next time.

As a vegetarian, I'm challenged to find options in West Yellowstone or Gardiner. I was pleased to find several options at Canyon Street Grill. While vegetarian, and far from healthy, at least their garden burger (store bought) was nicely enhanced with mushrooms and onions. Their fries were nicely crisped and left unseasoned. (I can't stand places that put all sorts of seasoning on their fries!). The highlight was my Wilcoxsin's Chocolate Malt...served in the traditional fluted glass along with the remaining in the metal cup on the side. Enough to fill it twice. While not a waistline friendly place, I'll be back when I need my burger/fry/shake fix.

This place was a great surprise--we stumbled upon it while looking for another restaurant. The decor is very cool, and the restaurant is clean. Our kids really enjoyed both the decor and the food, as well. The shakes were great--I had their version of a Dreamsicle shake. The burger was good (not great, but good), and everyone enjoyed their meals (hot dogs and grilled cheese. We'd highly recommend this place, especially for families!

  • Jay M.

I really loved the decor and feel of this place. A 50's diner feeling with a jukebox, vintage signs and checkerboard floor. The service was great. The food was nothing spectacular but everyone was happy with it. The menu consists of mostly burgers and other sandwiches. There are a couple kids and senior options as well. The price is a little high, probably around 13-15$ a person if you order a soda. They do have a vintage soda called Iron Port that was really good, sort of a caramel flavor to it. We also tried the huckleberry milkshake which was really good. I would recommend this place to a friend.

    (3)
  • Austin H.

If you like a Fifties-style diner, this place won't disappoint! The person who said they shouldn't call it a grill obviously didn't pay much attention to the menu. I went with my family (wife and four kids 9-16). We all ordered different burgers or sandwiches and everything was excellent. Many burgers are on sourdough bread rather than a bun, and feature a wide variety of toppings and homemade sauce. Chicken salad was great as well. I've never eaten at the same restaurant two nights in a row, but the kids insisted we go back. Everyone tried something new from the menu, with the same results. Fantastic! Loved the old fashioned drinks and specialty sodas, too. Kids really liked the Mountain Dew lime sherbet float and huckleberry malt.

They should call this Canyon Street Diner... nothing is grilled. I was pleasantly surprised how fresh, and good our food was. For a diner, which only serves burgers, sandwiches and hot dogs... my salad (that they gladly subbed me instead of fries) was very fresh tasting. Foods good. Place is clean.

    (3)
  • Brian C.

The food was okay. My burger wasn't amazing but everyone else that I was with really liked what they got. If you get onion rings instead of fries, they only give you 5. I got the potato wedges and they were pretty good.

They should really change the name of this place to the Canyon st. Diner. It is a 50's style diner set in the small main street of this nice little town. Red Vinyl booths and chrome welcome you into a store that is divided this diner and a t shirt store. The choices are basic diner foods, but everything we sampled was tasty. Not skimpy on the portions either. They have some interesting and unusual choices for bottled soda. (at least they don't have these choices in KS, could just be a regional item) I had a blue Cream soda that was very vanilla filled and was quite good but a little sweet. They were out of Green Rivers, which was my first choice. Sorry don't remember the brand name of these treats. The thing that is most Memorable from here is something the waiter suggested, called a Dew Dew....yes pronounced doo-doo. Which was Mountain Dew over a brand name of lime sherbet, that made a tasty and refreshing punch-like concoction, that put us back to the 50's diner mode. Cost was very reasonable, which was surprising to me being in a tourist-stop town at the entrance Yellowstone park. Worth a look if you want a quick american style meal on your journeys.

Walking along Canyon Street at 9P.M, I noticed that not many restuarants were open.. Low and behold, we spot a cute little diner! Upon entering, we were greeted by a very nice staff member (points there) and the waiter was equally as nice. The food was great, we ordered a steak, angel's salad? (can't remember the name but it had a pineapple in it) and fries. Reasonably priced which is a lot more than you can ask for in this major tourist spot!

    (4)
  • Amber S.

Tourist prices, fast food quality. The service was friendly but slow. Fish sandwich was processed fish like McDonalds down the road and the salad tasted like the bag it came in. The window reads: "We are not a Fast Food Restaurant, we are a Cafe, reminiscent of a bygone era, where the quality of food meant more to America than how fast it could be served." It could be a great little dive if they could live up to what they are trying to sell.

  • Jin P.

Cute little 50's diner on the main drag. Reasonable prices, and the food was good for burgers and fries. I was pleased there was more than 1 vegetarian option, and even a veggie burger! I ordered the mushroom sandwich and it was pretty decent. Service was really slow b/c there were only 2 servers and probably only 1 cook in the back but they were polite and apologetic. Seems to get a lot of business since it's on the main drag, and large groups in shifts. I would eat there again next time for breakfast or lunch.

  • Shari B.

I guess we should have known better than to have chicken in a burger joint. The grilled chicken was not grilled it was straight out of a bag. The fries were also out of a bag. There was one waiter for the entire restaurant. Our service was bad. We had to go to the register to get our check. The place is cute and clean but I wouldn't go back.

my family has a summer home close to West Yellowstone... so I've seen many restaurants come and go in this little town each summer. Thankfully, our go-to spot has stayed STRONG... this burger joint has everything you'd expect from a 50s diner...everything is delicious! We come here at least once a summer...maybe twice and everyone orders pretty much the same thing. Consistency of the service and the food is great...year over year this place really shines and is one of the best places to eat. They also accommodate large families and the prices are only around $10 per person.

Great Diner, with better than average food. If you're looking for a GR8 Atmosphere that HAS AIR CONDITIONING. We found this quite refreshing as when you're in Yellow Stone on a hot day as we were its a Diner you'll love as most all other restaurants were hot, muggy & stuffy. Not this place & again the food & sandwiches are awesome!!!!!

  • K M.

Fun little 50s-themed diner. We stopped in for lunch and were pleased with our choice. They had a good selection of burgers, sandwiches, and the like. Several of the sandwiches sounded good and I had a hard time picking one. The side salad was a little boring but after two weeks in this part of the country I'd decided that fresh veggies are not really anybody's strong suit, so I can't blame them too much for that. Prices not horribly steep, pretty affordable for a tourist town actually. We shared a delicious milkshake while we waited for our food which didn't really take that long. Really my only complaint is that they share a 1-stall restroom with the other businesses in the building and it could have been cleaner.

  • Kevin S.

This was about the only place open in March. And I got lucky, healthy-ish meal option, burger and soup (no fries to tempt me). My burger was good, fresh enough, and my tomato soup had chunks of tomatoes and was nice and hot (unlike many other soups I had on this trip). I'd recommended give this simple diner a try.

Great service and really good "all American" food. Loved the fun 50's atmosphere and music.
